Why Our School

Crescent Heights is part of the Tacoma Whole Child Initiative, a partnership between Tacoma Public Schools and the University of Washington Tacoma. Through this initiative Crescent Heights' teachers receive guidance, support and tools to help them connect and serve the individual social and emotional needs of every student. Teachers meet twice a month to collaboratively review student academic progress and develop plans. Learning and achievement is celebrated throughout the year with Student of the Month assemblies. And each year, the school hosts a reading night, a math night and a science fair. Fifth Graders at Crescent Heights participate in a three-day outdoor learning experience at Camp Seymour. Crescent Heights maintains high expectations while providing fun and engaging learning opportunities.
